There are reports of Swainson's Thrush feeding on lawns like American Robins from Newfoundland in the last few days. Reports are saying they have never seen this before and blame the cold weather.

Snowy Owl - The first report of Snowy Owl we received (this may be the first report in Atlantic Canada) was from Corinne Reid Nov 14, 2013 at Dominion Beach. Shortly after her sighting reports came in from all around us with record numbers being seen in Newfoundland at Cape Race. Dec. 8 we found the Snowy Owl in the photo below at Schooner Pond. Dec. 9th we had 3 Snowy Owls, 1 at Glace Bay Sanctuary, 1 at Port Caledonia, and 1 at Schooner Pond.

Snowy Owl - Allan Wilson reported a Snowy Owl on Dominion Beach this morning Feb 28. It was chased by crows out over the ocean in the direction of Bridgeport or Tablehead.

Iceland Gulls - We found a few flocks of Iceland Gull along the cliffs at Schooner Pond today. They were climbing over the hard thick clumps of branches on the Bayberry bushes feeding on the Bayberries. The gulls were forced to open their wings for balance as they tried to grab up the berries that grow deep into the branches.
